Physician practice goes digital.
Small Office Looks to the Future
A small practice of physician specialists was ready to move from paper processes into the digital age. They envisioned implementing a practice management system and, eventually, electronic medical records and claim processing systems. The physicians asked IBS to assist them in developing a request for proposal (RFP) for the practice management software and to network their three offices.

Budget Realities Necessitate a Long-Term Approach
At the outset of the project, it became clear that a long-term strategic technology plan was needed. The estimated costs of implementing the network and the software solutions were greater than the doctors had expected, and it was clear that the plans would need to be implemented in phases.

IBS developed a network infrastructure plan that would support their current and future requirements, with the intent of starting with their main office and expanding to the branches later. IBS then assisted in the software selection process by:
  • creating an RFP tailored to the practice's requirements and distributing to 12 vendors
  • arranging on-site and off-site software demos
  • completing technical and functional analyses of the software packages under consideration
  • performing reviews of the vendors' contracts
  • recommending two final vendors and participating in final interviews

Once the software was selected, IBS assisted in the purchase and installation of appropriate hardware for the new network, software implementation, training and support.

Project Results
The client now has a new, scalable network infrastructure and a new practice management system that provides quick, easy-to-use scheduling, reporting and billing functions. Most important, the client now has a clear understanding and a workable plan for enhanced technology improvements to their business.
